Lindsay Jackson Ward is a Charleston, SC native — born and bred in Mount Pleasant. While most kids were eating dirt and playing hopscotch, Lindsay was grand jete-ing around the playground.
And her dance training served her well. After graduating from high school, Lindsay took to traveling the seas, dancing professionally for Regent Seven Seas and Princess Cruise Lines.
Throughout her years as a professional dancer, Lindsay kept hearing about this “Pilates” thing and how it helps dancers with flexibility, control, balance, and strength.
Eventually, she decided to take a Pilates class. But with her schedule, she was just taking a class here and there.
When she returned to Charleston in 2011, Lindsay truly committed to Pilates. She bebopped into Coastal Body Studio and began taking classes with the prior owner Lauren Maniscalco. Lauren knew Lindsay was meant for great things (like being a Pilates instructor), so she swiftly introduced her to Penelope Wyer Barrow and Penelope’s amazing Pilates teacher training program. After completing the teacher training program and instructing at Coastal Body Studio for about a year, Lindsay took over the reigns as the owner of Coastal Body Studio in September 2015.
Tricia Epperson is a spit-fire group fitness instructor and barre instructor.
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Tricia started going to group fitness classes in high school with her mom. She was immediately hooked! Whether mom wanted to go to class or not, Tricia was there… front row. So when she went off to East Carolina University, she started teaching classes (when she wasn’t in the classroom earning her degree in Elementary Education).
Even after graduating from college and while teaching fourth grade, Tricia continued to teach her beloved group fitness classes.
Now, all these years later, Tricia lives in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with her husband Justin, daughter Lila Dorothy, and furbaby Jack.
While Tricia doesn’t teach school anymore, she schools the ladies at Coastal Body Studio with her intense Barre classes. When she’s not at the barre, Tricia enjoys going for long runs with her daughter (Her daughter in the stroller, of course, but we’re guessing not for long.) and meeting friends for outdoor play dates (to do some more running).
Norma Boccabella is chilling out kids of all ages in her imaginative and fun children and adult yoga classes. She is certified to teach everyone from tots to seniors to expecting mamas, having completed training programs with Karma Kids NYC, the Riverstone Yoga Teacher Training Program, Kids Yogaverse, and YogaEducation Institute.
Norma also has advanced degrees in children’s education and development and family studies and has been honored with numerous awards for her work in raising awareness on youth issues.
Born and raised in Sleepy Hollow, NY, Norma now lives in Mount Pleasant with her husband and college sweetheart, Todd, and their three rambunctious boys, Emilio, Lorenzo, and Nico, so she knows first hand the importance of helping children (and parents!) thrive and, at the same time, finding peace in today’s hectic world.
Yoga has been such a major part of Norma’s life for the past 20 plus years, and she feels so blessed to share this passion with the new generation of mini yogis.
Dana Romanosky is a Certified Pilates Instructor through The Pilates Center’s Advanced Teacher Training Program.
Way back in 1999 (when no one could even pronounce the name Pilates) Dana — a marketing expert at a Manhattan investment bank at the time — strolled into her first Pilates class. In 2006, her faith in Pilates was solidified after sustaining major injuries in a car accident and using Pilates to rehabilitate and safely get back into shape. From that point, she decided to trade in her suits and heels for spandex and bare feet and enroll in the Pilates teacher training program.
Dana’s teaching style is firmly rooted in the classical tradition of Romana Kyrzanowska and her personal experience of using Pilates to rehabilitate from injury and chronic pain.
Dana brings that style and passion to every client and loves helping people of all ages achieve their fitness or post-rehabilitation goals.
Dana, hubby Jay, and two daughters recently moved to Mount Pleasant from North Carolina and are thrilled to be a part of our Coastal community.
